CJ Testimony Turned Pinoy Movie

Posted: May 22, 2012 in Social

Today, our supreme court chief justice decided to face the impeachment charges against him by taking the witness stand. Honestly, I was starting to be open to the possibility that there’s some truth to what he was saying. The sub-plots were kinda believable- family feuds that’s being passed on from one generation to another, a scorned wife being supported by a loving husband, a daughter whose actions seemingly are exacting some form of revenge and another daughter who went abroad, became successful and is now contributing to the family fortune. Quite common in the Philippine setting.

Then it was followed by what I thought would be the surprise move of this courtroom drama series. A sign of transparency, the signing of the waiver that will expose all his assets coupled with a dare to bare all versus his accusers and political enemies. An effing smart move I thought. But as I was about to broadcast in Twitter and Facebook that the CJ is back in the game, another surprise move stopped me dead. A WTF, WTH, HMOG walkout. A walkout that would be spoiled at an exit leading to the basement parking by Senate sergeant-at-arms. An attempted escape? Apparently not. The CJ just needed a breather as he was suffering from hypoglycemia. There we have it. The health reasons card (the #1 trending excuse amongst our politicians) was once again played. And what was the root cause? The CJ didn’t eat lunch. Skipped lunch knowing that he has a condition (diabetes), knowing that he will give a 3 hour speech, knowing that he will have to be cross-examined after that movie-and-its-sequel-long litany.

My thought balloon read, “Is this for real? Am I watching a Pinoy movie from the 70s to 90s here?”

This brings me to what I really wanted to write about. In the spirit of the patok sa takilya vibe, what movie title do I want to give today’s exciting twist, turn and tumble episode.

Here’s what I came up with after a few moments of brainstorming with myself:

1. Tumestigo Ka Ngunit Kulang: The CJ Corona walkout

2. Hihintayin Kita Sa St. Luke’s

3. Gaano Kadalas Ang Walkout

4. Bukas Luluhod Ang Mga Low-Blood Sugar

5. Inagaw Mo Na Ang Lahat Sa Akin… Pati Ang Lunch Ko

6. Gumapang Ka Sa Basement Parking

7. Madaya Ang Itawag Mo Sa Akin

8. Corona: Ang Lalakeng Gustong Magpahinga

9. Patayin Sa Sindak Ang Prosecution (pati na din ang Senado)

10. Corona, Kasusuklaman Ba Kita?

I’m sure there are many more you can think of. It’s actually fun to do.

For the sake of everyone, I do hope he returns and finishes what he started. Then maybe we can see:

11. Babangon ako at Sasagutin Kita

12. Da Best In Da Huwes part 2

That said, here’s my only wish- I sure hope they don’t start dancing at a beach when this trial comes to a close.
